Discipline, Teamwork Key: Satala

Former Fiji 7s star Viliame SatalaFormer Fiji 7s star Viliame SatalaFORMER national rugby sevens star Vilimoni Satala says the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team needs to pick up the very play they left off last season.

Satala said the team has the core returnees that won the 2018-2019 World Rugby Sevens Series and sees no reason why they can’t replicate a championship performance at the Dubai Sevens.

“Most of the players on the team are returnees”, he said.

“They’ve played together, know individual styles, strengths and weaknesses.

“It’s all about putting that best foot forward for one another and play as a team”.

Satala said the team has prepared well for the opening round of HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

“Strong start and back it up with the same intensity in Cape Town”.

Satala, dubbed as ‘The Stretcher’ a name he earned for his vicious hits during his playing career, said the players must always be reminded about the need to maintain discipline and be focused.

“Discipline is the key; communication is very important.

“Decision making is vital during the games, kickoff and ball retention is very important, it’s all about the rugby game”.

Satala singled out Waisea Nacuqu as the player to watch, said the pesky player has grown with the game.

He said Nacuqu’s confident on the ball, has great vision and creates plays for teammates.
