Football fans, district representatives and people from all walks of life were among the hundreds who attended his funeral at the Valley View Funeral Home to pay their respects.

 

Lal,67, died last week Friday at his Surrey home.

 

Delivering the eulogy at his father's funeral with sibling Vinesh Lal by his side, son Rohit Prakash said: “His dad was a good father and a strong Ba supporter".

Prakash said his dad was loved by all and that he will be forever missed.

Football great Ivor Evans, who was a key member of Ba's 1986 Inter District Championship winning team, said Lal's  love for football particularly for Ba was unparalleled.

"A true Ba football fan who has has both served the association in Fiji and Canada.

"He (Lal) had a strong admiration for the players".

Nadi Football Association president Omar Khan said Lal was a passionate fan of the game.

Khan said Lal exemplified district loyalty rarely seen.

"He was a nice man and bedrock of a fan".

Dressed in jerseys, Ba Masters players' were the pallbearers for the final journey before the cremation.
