The duo were cited for their distinct contributions to the sport in Fiji and Canada before Fijian Prime-Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, who was the chief guest.

Evans, who has had an eleven-year professional hiatus with the Vancouver 86s and Whitecaps football club 86- 97 was a key member of the history making Vancouver 86ers of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL).

He won four straight CSL Championships (1988–1991) and five consecutive CSL regular-season first-place finishes (1988–92).

The former exponent has been a successful Nadi FC coach, guiding the district to an unprecedented 8 Inter District Championship (IDC) titles in the 11 years he been at the helm.

Evans was inducted into BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.

Chaudhary was a member of 1990 IDC winning Nasinu football team.

He was a part of the Fiji team that captivated footballing fans in Fiji and Pacific for winning the Melanesian Cup 88.

Chaudhary led Ba Masters won both the 2017 Masters League and the IDC.

MBCBC spokesman Bob Ibrahim while speaking to Sportsone said Evans and Chaudhary have contributed immensely to soccer and they felt the need to acknowledge the athletes during their gala night.

“Ivor has not only made himself a name but put Fiji on the footballing map for being the first Fijian outside of Fiji to play professional football with the Vancouver 86s and the Vancouver Whitecaps”.

“Ivor is a living legend. He certainly deserves the praise of the Fijian community”.

Bob said Chaudhary has also made his fair share of contribution to football and his unerring service shouldn’t go unnoticed.

“Ronald (Chaudhary) like Ivor commands a lot respect from the football fraternity”.
