Nasim new FANCA Canada head coach

Abdul Nasim, new FANCA Premier team coach: BCMSAAbdul Nasim, new FANCA Premier team coach: BCMSAAFTER two month vetting process, the British Columbia Muslim Sports Association has appointed head coaches for the FANCA 2020 tournament.


Coaches for the Premier, 35s and 40s divisions were confirmed on Thursday.

Veteran footballer turned administrator Abdul Nasim who was courted for the premier coaches’ position was appointed to lead team Canada.

For good measure, he brings a wealth of experience for the job.


Nasim will set-out on identifying, selection and rebuilding a team capable of challenging at the summit of the FANCA Muslim soccer tournament.


Canada had last clinched victory in 2016, with 3-1 win over Australia at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park, the first of which they won in 2001 at the Coquitlam Town Center and finished second in 1997, 2010 and 2012.

Nazim Khan was appointed coach for 35s and Aleem Kamal for 40s division.

The BCMSA had called for interests in September, for the positions with resumes, including playing background, current coaching certificates and the coaching philosophy.

New Zealand will host the 2020 FANCA Muslim soccer tournament in October.
