Funds garnered through a dinner and dance night will be handed to the players and management during the Vancouver Sevens in March.

The announcement of the event was made on Radio Bula Masti.

Petaia Usakilakeba said sevens rugby has given Fijians a sporting identity world over, and he urged local community to support the event on the 22nd of February at the Khanna Banquet Hall in Surrey.

Petaia, who was flanked by the members of Vancouver 7s Fiji Fan Base, said the group is thrilled to host the event for the second year running.

“I must thank the group, for coming forward again this year to organize the fundraiser for the team”, he said during the announcement.

“We need to give back to the players who make huge sacrifices and make us all proud, they have a passion for the sport and play with all the heart, it’s our small token of appreciation.

“Let’s make this event a success, we need you support, just as you all did in 2019”.

Last year the group raised about $$9000 (FJ$14,500) through a dinner and dance event.

All proceeds was distributed to the players and management during a special meet and greet event in Vancouver.

“We will evenly distributed all the money raised among the players and the management this year again”, said Petaia.

Vancouver Sevens will be played on the weekend of March, 7-8 at the BC Place Stadium.
