Vancouver Sanatan teamVancouver Sanatan teamVancouver Sanatan lost 4-2 to Queensland in the penalty shoot-out of the Sanatan World Cup final after an absorbing 0-0 draw in Sydney, Australia yesterday.

And despite the loss, the Canucks garnered the adulation of the host nation, participating teams and the fans for their style, guile and gusto performance.

Coach Mun Reddy told Sportsone and Radio S1 Dhamaka that while the loss is being felt by his young squad, he's ecstatic about their performance, who gave it all during the SWC.

"I'm impressd with the way my players showed up for the tournament", he said. "Everyone played their hearts out.We were just unlucky to convert the dead ball ".

Reddy fought off emotions, said the team obliverated top contenders enroute to the final added that makes his players a special bunch.

He said hordes of Vancouver-rites had written them off and with the second placed finish they may now have a change of heart towards the team.

"We must be mindful of the fact that we took a fresh team for 2014 SWC as core of the players who won the 2012 championship in Canada didn't show any interest to be part of the team.

"Canada has talent. The Aussies and other teams will vouch for that," quipped coach Reddy.

Reddy vented his displeasure at the resident match officials for not calling out dangerous on plays.

"Look, when referees fail to caution and take appropriate actions for intentional hits I see that as a problem.

"That's just not acceptable. We lost Justin Singh for deliberate hit.Justin was not in the lineup for one match that mattered the most".

Coach Reddy says he's bitter about the whisker loss but wants to make it  clear that it's not as per say an excuse not to win the championship.

Vancouver, Canada will host 2016 Sanatan World Cup.
