Fiji coach Ben Ryan is optimistic about winning the Las Vegas 7s.Fiji coach Ben Ryan is optimistic about winning the Las Vegas 7s.The Vodafone Fiji 7s team remains confident of winning the USA tournament, which gets underway in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Despite a turbulent outing in the Wellington 7s over the weekend, where the side won the plate title, coach Ben Ryan is positive about the latest stop.

He says it is all about starting on a high and mistake free from pool games.

Its getting very competitive. Before the Wellington tournament New Zealand was five points behind us and now they are ahead of us.

We can overtake them again in Vegas and we play them in our group which is great as it is a chance to play the current inform team on the circuit so that is great.

I think after Vegas, we should see the top three moving away from everyone else.

That means we have to win the group really, beat Samoa, New Zealand and Wales and get ourselves in the final and we have a team capable of winning the title even on the narrow pitch.

Fiji plays Samoa in its opening match at 1.06pm on Saturday, before meeting Wales at 4.02pm.

The last pool match is against New Zealand at 9.05am on Sunday, followed by the quarter-finals.

The semi-finals and the final will be played on Monday.
