Locals not impressive with MayweatherLocals not impressive with Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather may have won the unprecedented 48 th title fight but that did little to impress his followers at Club 68 in Surrey tonight.

The fans believe the greatest pound per pound boxer was short on delivery against Manny Pacquiao.

Paul Chand, who has been a Mayweather follower since 1991 says the boxer, took a very cautious approach against Manny Pacquiao.

“Floyd Mayweather didn’t impress me despite posting a unanimous decision”, he said.

“I guess he didn’t wanted to risk losing it. Mayweather wanted to keep it simple. All in the entire encounter he was less attractive”.

Chand said Manny Pacquiao was listless for most of the fight.

“Manny had to fight which was five years in the making.  For the Philippine it was not about money but pride and the fact that fans wanted this one fight for the longest time”.

Chand strongly feels Floyd Mayweather after September fight that he announced; he will most likely call it a career and go in history as the greatest boxer by matching Rocky Marciano's 49 consecutive wins.

With Mayweather, Chand said it’s possible to etch himself into history.

Irshad Mohammed of Burnaby was looking for a stellar performance that didn’t eventuate.

“I think a lot was expected out of Mayweather and that may have put an added pressure on him”, said Mohammed.

“Manny Pacquiao was over confident.

“I will say this much both the fighters were listless”.

Sudesh Kumar gave the champion a sub- performance rating.

The Newton lad expressed disgust at Floyd Mayweather's performance.

The local’s opinion does not measure up with the colossal pay out of 200 million plus dollars that the 'moneyman'  comfortably cashed in for a night's  earning.
