Raj, 20, confirmed to Sportsone today that he will feature for Nadi during the IDC Next month.

The budding star said he has been advised by his father to play for his roots.

“My dad Manoj Raj is a fervent Nadi soccer fan”, Raj said. “I have been advised to play for the home team and that’s what I intend to do come August.

"I have had a stint with Nadi when I was only 14 years old. I was too young but now that I have gained valuable experience it would only be fitting I play for my roots.

Raj's decision ends weeks of speculation that the youngster was being eyed on by Suva, Naita and Nasinu.

"Once I learned that Nadi were interested in signing me, it was a very easy decision to make," said Raj who just this past weekend rubbed shoulders with former Fijian national team players’  Viliame Toma and Marika Madigi during the Nations Cup in Calgary.

The defending champions lost 0-2 to Solomon’s in the grand finale.

Raj was named the best defensive player of the tournament.
