Defender Alvin Singh featuring for Calgary Tavua Defender Alvin Singh featuring for Calgary Tavua Ba and Fijian national soccer team defender Alvin Singh led Calgary Tavua looks to be the team to beat at this year's NAFSA soccer tournament.

The ‘stone wall’ Singh played a pivotal role for his sides’ double wins, the 1-0 win against Vancouver champions Flagstaff FC in its opener and a 3-0 shut-out to former Nadi and Fijian international Viliame Toma’s Calgary Fijiana.

The MIB defensive thorn teamed up with former teammates of Marika Madigi, Petero Dauniseka and Peter Huges to impress the fans with their brisk style of football.

Singh stood out in the all ‘Battle of the Alberta’ clash. He absorbed much of Calgary Fijiana’s early rush with cool defensive play.

Radio S1 Dhamaka’s Sam Ali who is covering the NAFSA tournament for Sportsone said Singh is by far the standout of the Day One of the championship.

“Alvin (Singh) is the player to watch”, said Ali. “He is the difference maker and an amazing player to watch”.

Ali said Singh turns defense into attack with pure ease and thwarts danger with all his might.

“The Ba combination of old seems to be working well for Calgary Tavua.

“If they play the way they did in the two games then I wouldn’t be surprised they will win it all come Sunday”.
