FSLGV get failing grade

Local Sports

FootballFootballOn the eve of the Pacific Cup in New Zealand this website conducted an in depth poll on 4 Fijian soccer bodies and the FSLGV is seeded at bottom of the lot.

The New Zealand Fiji Football Association Incorporated (NZFFI) and the Australian Fiji Football Association (AFFA) topped the cart. Fiji United States Soccer Association (FUSSA) came in third.

Most of us that follow Fijian Soccer League of Greater Vancouver donít really need the studyís evidence to state the obvious, but nonetheless, we now have an official poll to track information from.

A range of factors were taken into account such as each associationís administration, fee- payout, attendance, talent production, competitive balance and contribution to the game.

And apart from five categories, the other defining factor turned out to be top three associationsí participation in this yearís Pacific Cup, which the Canadians failed.

Letís also be mindful of the fact that New Zealand, Australia and the USA donít have an organized league like the Fijian Soccer League of Greater Vancouver as these countries heavily participate in tournaments only and have produced an array of great talents who represented both their nations and some have made it into the Fiji Football Associationís†† national age group teams.

A cross-section of young, old and games novice noted NZFFI and AFFA as the best run associations for being Pacific Cup hosts. While FUSSA managed to secure its place among the three for debuting in the 2015 Pacific Cup.

Points were assigned to every association for every category and added up to see who comes out on top.

NZFFI (42), AFFA (30), USA (17) and FSLGV, (11) votes.

Other Fijian associations werenít included in the poll.

The result goes to show that the FSLGV needs immediate improvement on just about all the categories.†
