Fiji vs SamoaFiji vs SamoaThe Vodafone Flying Fijians ended day one of the HSBC Vancouver 7s tournament undefeated.

The side beat Pacific rivals Samoa 38-5 in their first pool game. Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Jerry Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua, Emosi Mulevoro and Nemani Nagusa scored a try each in this match.

Fiji then completely obliterated Portugal 62-0 in their second match. Dakuwaqa and Taliga grabbed hatricks, Veremalua added a brace while Mulevoro and Rawaca contributed a try each.

The Fijians looked destined for an upset loss against Kenya in the final pool game, however, a converted try at the hooter to Kitione Taliga broke Kenyan hearts. Veremalua (2) and Mulevoro were the other try scorers. Fiji won 24-19.

Fiji now meets USA in the first cup quarterfinal tomorrow. South Africa plays Wales in the second cup quarterfinal, New Zealand and Samoa go head to head in the third followed by Australia and Scotland in the last cup quarterfinal.
