Fiji vs AustraliaFiji vs AustraliaThe Vodafone Fiji 7s side finished a disappointing fourth at the inaugural HSBC Vancouver 7s tournament going down 12-19 to Australia in the bronze medal match.

Fiji lost key-man Kitione Taliga to a first-minute yellow card. However, Masivesi Dakuwaqa and Emosi Mulevoro stepped up to score a try each, the former converted, for Fiji to take a 12-0 lead.

A converted try to Stepehen van der Walt closed the gap to 12-7 at halftime.

Replacement John Porch scored a brace of tries late in the second half, the first converted by Quade Cooper to silence the otherwise highly vocal team Fiji supporters at BC Place Stadium.

The Fijians made multiple mistakes in the match summing up an afternoon marred by errors and uncharacteristic play.

Osea Kolinisau looked a defeated man, exiting the field last after the final whistle. Captain courageous and his gladiators would have certainly loved to win back to back but even a third place finish eluded the men in white.

Its back to the drawing board for coach Ben Ryan and the boys. Hong Kong 7s, the prime tournament in the series calendar is up next scheduled for 8-10 April, 2016.
