Canada over 40s team:File PhotoCanada over 40s team:File PhotoCanada Muslim Veteran over 40 soccer team will participate in the 2016† FANCA Muslim soccer tournament in Fiji in October.

The announcement follows the change of heart by sportís governing body FANCA Federation.

FANCA Federation had initially phased out the division citing lack of commitment from the participating nations.

The decision was reversed on the behest of the interested parties.

Canada Veterans over 40 liaison officer, Talat Khan, who has been handed the responsibility to put together a team for the tour, said the news couldnít have been any better for the Canadians.

He said Canada had won the division back to back (2012-2014) and the inclusion will have them set their sights on winning the treble championship.

"The Canadians have what it takes to win its third championship. Canada has won the inaugural Veteran over 40 division in 2012 and then two years' on in 2014Ē, said Khan.

"Iím ecstatic about the opportunity".

Khan has called on the expression of interest from players who want to be a part of the team.

"We have an amazing pool of players who would have us form a formidable side.

"Some have represented the team in the last two tournaments and those that would want to be debutants", said Khan.

Khan added the 2016 FANCA tournament could well be the last one for most members of the double championship winning team.

"One last tuck in the all too famous red attire is whatís at stake".

The former Veteran over 40's player encourages players who qualify for the division to step forward and contact him.

"Iíve talked to a handful of returnees and potentials last Sunday. We need players to declare their intent so we take the best team to Fiji and win for the third time. That would be something", Khan said.
