The Ba Football Association of British Columbia, Canada is in the mourning following the death of president Rattan Lal.
Lal, 67, died yesterday at his Surrey home.
Lal was elected president of the BFABC in 2008 and was a long time valuable contributor of the sport and the district.
The former Waiqau, Ba native had also served with the Ba Football Association (Fiji) in the mid-80s to early 90s, and during his tenure he was an active board member with its tournament organizing committee.
As a staunch football fan, Lal was a familiar face at all football events on the lower-mainland.
Vinesh Lal, Lal’s son, said his father loved football and was arguably Ba's biggest footballing fan, added the district football meant the world to him.
“His love for the sport and passion saw him being at all football events,” said Vinesh.
He said his dad was feeling unwell lately but was otherwise in good spirit.
“Dad tagged along Ba Masters to its pre-season exhibition games. His sudden, untimely loss will be sadly missed”.
The funeral services will take place on Friday, April 28, at 9 a.m. at the Valley View Funeral Home at 14644- 72 Ave, in Surrey.
