Coach Jo Rabele said the 22-6 win could only be blamed at the sub-standard field and the fact the Canadians were unprepared to host them.

“I’m very disappointed at the hosts,” he said.  “The field was not up to standard and to top it off, there were no touchline judges”.

“You would think the facility for the IRL (International Rugby League) sanctioned match would be immaculate”.

Rabele said his team couldn’t play structured rugby.

“The players played half their potential after learning the Canadian Wolverines were not at full strength”.

Fiji Bati standout, Viliame Rakuli said the players showed true Fijian resilience in the face of adversity.

“I agree with what the coach had to say about the field and the lack of match officials, but I’m happy for the boys who played for one another to win the game”.

The Canadian Wolverines were on a five -game skid ahead of the Fiji Bati match-up and coach Ben Fleming’s fiery per-match hype up fell on delivery.

The seven changes to the roster resulting from injuries, availability and performance failed to spark the team.

“We wanted to win against Fiji Bati but we lost to a good team”.

“Fiji (Bati) played well”, said Fleming.

The Fiji Bati residents team return to Fiji on Tuesday.
