Fiji Consulate General in Vancouver Bobby Naicker threw a farewell party for the Fiji Bati resident in Surrey last night.
The players and the coaching staff tucked at Surrey's popular eatery, the Wings Restaurant.
The team stood hunched as fans parroted loudly Fiji's nation anthem before the dinner.
They later mingled with the partiers and had their pictures taken with the fans.
Naicker told Sportsone that it was always an honor and a privilege to host the heroes of Fiji rugby whenever they’re in Vancouver.
“It gives me great pleasure to host our rugby heroes in Surrey tonight,” he said.
“We all need to come together and support them. The team is our guests”.
Coach Jo Rabele praised the generosity of Fiji Consulate General, Bobby Naicker for the farewell dinner.
“I want to thank Bobby Naicker for hosting us tonight (last night) at his restaurant, Wings Restaurant”.
“I also want to thank all those who supported us on the Canadian tour.
“Vinaka Vakalevu (Thank you very much).
Fiji Bati captain and team’s fulcrum, Viliame Rokuli ended the night by applauding Fiji Consulate and the fans on behalf of the players.
“On behalf of the players, I say Vinaka (Thank you) for everything”, said Rokuli.
“Everyone enjoyed the night. We will forever cherish the kind gesture”.
The team left for Fiji today.
