Baker hurts Fiji in Cup-semifinal

Baker's coast to coast try left the Fijian pack biting the Sam Boyd Stadium turf.

He was at his menace best when he charged down the sideline with blistering speed to avert Alasio Sovita Naduva Fiji's go ahead try.

The star of the USA team singled handedly beat Fiji with his two tries and inflicted gash wounds to Fijian fans on route to winning the game 19-7.

Baker, while speaking to Sportsone during the Vancouver Sevens last year, said it was just a matter of time when they will beat big name teams, he made a specific mention of Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa.

"Fiji is one the best team and it would be some feeling beating them whenever the stakes are high".

"Fiji brings the best in us.

"We’re working very hard to achieving our goal, not that we haven’t won a tournament, which we have but the feeling of winning the overall series would be something".

Baker and USA side-played with a lot flair and verve to beat Argentina 28-0 to win its first USA 7s championship at home.
