Former Nadi rep, Nitish Goundar laid to restFormer Nadi rep, Nitish Goundar laid to restFOOTBALLERS, friends and families paid their final respect to former Nadi soccer player, Nitish Goundar today.

The 55- year old died suddenly in Surrey last week.

Nicknamed Adilas, a name he earned after the Brazilian midfielder of the 70s, played alongside some of the district’s finest of the 80s in Fiji.

“Nitish was an amazing player who made the district team at a very young age”, said Subarmani Reddy, who played club football with Nitish.

Reddy said one had to be good to make the Nadi team and Nitish was an excellent player who fitted well with the team.

“It was always a joy to watch him play. He was honored to play with the likes of Emosi Koroi ‘Bacardi’, Rusiate Waqan, Manu Pokar, Inosi Tora and many more.

“It was not an easy crack for the starting lineup in the 80s but Nitish earned the place because of how good he was".

Reddy said had he (Nitish) not emigrated to Canada, he would’ve crafted a successful footballing career in Fiji, adds he was a national team prospect.

Nitish played for Burnaby Royals and the Fiji Saints in the 90s under the Fiji Football Association.

“He was a humble individual off the field”, Reddy described.
