The Fiji Airways 7s has had a good two-week training and conditioning in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The team had also been horning its game to earn the biggest sevens payout, in that the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco.

Now they’re anxiously waiting for the start of the campaign on Friday.

The RWC 7s is a championship that every participating sevens nation drools about wining as it only comes every 4 years.

Only three teams having won the sevens prestige, the Melrose Cup, reigning champions New Zealand and Fiji have won it twice (New Zealand 2001-2013) and Fiji (1995- 2007), Wales won in 2009.

Coach Gareth Baber has made a fine-tooth comb’ selection of a squad chock-full of talent, pace, experience and tactical maturity.

The team has the best chance to emulate the 1997 and the 2005 feat beyond the traditional rugby heartland, the AT&T Stadium in San Francisco, USA.

And after missing out on the Commonwealth Games gold to New Zealand and the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series to South Africa, the Fijians are all psyched up to win RWC7.

The squandered opportunities continue to haunt them and the rugby crazy nation.

The redemption, if you will, rides on the shoulders of Olympian’s Leone Nakarawa, Josua Tuisova, Jerry Tuwai, Vatemo Ravouvou, Semi Kunatani, Jasa Veremalua and Jerry Tuwai and Semi Radradra and the litany of proven stars in the mix, there is no second guessing as to who is the real contender of the 2018 RWC 7s.

These players can spark amber flakes during the 3 day event and on the backdrop of the rousing rendition of Toso Viti Toso, impromptu Fijian whirls and twirls, the team can only spring in the Fijian sevens magic at their own game.

It is Fiji’s moment in time and with all the preparations, the team deserves to raise aloft the championship trophy for all Fijians world over.

Yes, we can.
