Ba's Abbu Zahid aims to win the 2018 FANCA Muslim soccer tournament for Fiji.

He made light of the fact that Fiji hasn't won a tournament since 2012 that he was a part off.

Zahid said the very year at Churchill Park, he scored one of the two goals against Canada, Zibraaz Sahib scored the other for the championship.

The Ba striker who buoyed the spirits of the 'Men in blacks' on Sunday, scoring the first goal against Suva in the second extra time, while teammate Samuel Nabenia pounced for a 2-0 grand finale win, said he is ready to double the feat in Lautoka.

"The BOG is now Ba's to cherish¯, said Zahid in an exclusive Sportsone interview yesterday.

"We won after 5 years and I hold unity and team bonding to our victory.

"But now the focus is on FANCA and team Fiji, we have a good team and the aim is to win the championship¯".

He says FANCA is a fantastic campaign as teams from overseas come out to win the biennial meet.

"It's just not about participation no more but championship.

"The tournament has evolved over the years and teams bring out their best players to compete.

"I will give my best to help my teammates win the 2018 FANCA tournament, said Zahid, who tallied five goals in the BOG.

Fiji lost to Canada 4-1 in the playoffs of the 2016 FANCA tournament at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Canada went on to beat Australia 3-1 to claim its second title, the first they won in 2001 at the Coquitlam Centre Stadium in Coquitlam, BC, Canada.

The previous winners are, Fiji (1997, 2004, 2012), Canada (2001, 2016), New Zealand (2006, 2010, 2014) and Australia (2008).
