Ramendra Dutt, the former national team footballer headed in Viti Club Canada 45s game winner against Nadroga during the Sanatan World Cup opener at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.


Dutt pounced in on a timely Rocky Singh delivery in the second half of an exciting match.

Nadroga had several near goal scoring chances in the match but good goalkeeping by Vinny Sharma thwarted their opportunities.

The game was delayed for over an hour due to heavy downpour.

Manager Rodney Lal was happy with the result, said his players played well despite the heavy underfoot.

“We played well, given the conditions we were up against”, he said.

“We’ll take the win, we’ll take a game at a time”.

Dutt, a New Zealander, is a guest player on the team, he was ecstatic about the first win.

“Thanks for having me in the team, I’m happy we won the opening game”.

Sanatan World Cup continues weekend long at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
