A MATCH fixing scandal has rocked the FANCA Silver Jubilee Five Nations Muslim World Cup.
In an audio made public on social media, an unidentified man is heard brokering a deal with Fiji team midfielder William Valentine ahead of the New Zealand and Fiji final on Sunday.
New Zealand lost 1-0 to Fiji, and there were no indication of a fix as the two teams battled it out for the supremacy.
“I will pay $500-$700, return airline tickets to New Zealand for Muslim and Inter district tournament, payments, benefits and privileges will come along. It could be well over $3000.”
William who was not a participant played the deal by the ear, but the man was persistent, added he had already spoken to four other players on the team about the ongoing fix deal.
And when William pressed on the man to name the involved players, he refused to reveal their identity.
William offered the man to visit the camp and run the offer by the entire team, the man played down the idea.
When asked if he had spoken to Zibraaz Sahib, to which he said who Zibraaz was, William responded he was the team captain.
“Zibraaz has some information about the fix, but it all comes down to trust and I find dealing with you better.”
The deal broker also dropped a bombshell claim that he has higher up connections with FANCA officials.
He said the officials don't have a clear conscience.
And in a strange twist, Ba Football Association took out a statement today on its official Facebook, saying they were inundated with calls in relation to allegations of an official that tried to fix the match between Fiji vs New Zealand in FANCA final.
BAFA claims to have suspended the individual and placed an investigation on an official and club representative.
Attempts to get a comment from New Zealand coach Imraan Ali were futile.
