Rewa will be the team to beat in the 2012 FSLGV Knockout Tournament this weekend.
Undefeated in their last 5 games, they are tipped to pose the biggest threat for the crown.
They have former Fiji national reps, midfielders Ronald Chaudhary, Don Shaheem and soccer wizard Ivor Evans.
Ron and Don have been running the midfield clinic; the duos plays have been the marked difference Rewa is enjoying early success.
Their defence is looked after by Ivor Evans from a sweeper backs position.
The former Vancouver Whitecaps sensation dictates cool plays and jumps into rushes with his dazzling skills to plug more intensity upfront.
“Ivor brings a lot experience to park. He’s the best to come out of Fiji and that in itself explains a lot”.
Rewa coach Ronald Chaudhary though sees inform Don Shaheem as the catalyst of the side.
“Don is just amazing. This guy has never aged. He still has in him the deadly moves that made him a household name in Fiji in the 80s,” Chaudhary told Sports1.
“Don will turn your inside out and on a dime. He’s that good”.
He sees no reason why his side shouldn’t make it to the semi-final stages.
“I’m confident of quality in the team. All will though depend on how we play the 60 minute matches versus the 90 minute”.
“I must admit there’s not much to toy around in the tournaments, as suppose to the league games where extra 30 minutes makes all the difference”.
“We'll take one game at a time,” he said.
Rewa is drawn with Nadi and Lautoka in pool B.
They play their opening game against Nadi.
