There are footballing fans and there is that super-fan.
Given that every district has passionate fans who works up the crowd and fires up the team, no one comes close to a diehard Nadi football fan.
Simu Mudaliar has been one-man district fan, who dresses up in unique green attires and finds himself at every major tournament.
The witty and comical is always a standout, who leads a choir and entails a wagon of fervent.
During Nadi’s Fiji Fact win celebrations last Saturday, the super fan, who shrugs off age, was recognized with a medal and an appreciation certificate, a first in the history of Nadi Football Association.
Simu’s shout out at the Nair Dias podium drew the biggest cheer, the district affable returned the approval by saying, he was a ‘hardcore fan’.
“I just can’t describe the feeling of sharing the very stage reserved for championship winning players and officials”, he said.
“I’m just a hardcore’ Nadi fan. I’ve been one for over 40 years. Age is only a number.
“Win or lose and regardless of the status, district love runs in my veins”.
Nadi FA, president Javid Ahmed praised Simu (Mudaliar) for being a loyal friend of the district football.
He coined Simu as Nadi’s 12th man and more.
“Simu is a live-wire, undoubtably district’s super fan”.
