THE Nadi International Community has drawn the attention of stakeholders to consider building a state-of-the-art convention center and sporting facility in Nadi.
Former sports administrator and the brainchild, Bobby Tikaram says Nadi is the ‘gateway’ to Fiji and there’s a dire need for a facility that would cater from an olympic-sized swimming pool to the multi-purpose court.
“Nadi is fast growing, it is the hub of Fiji, airport and the five-star hotels all within the town perimeter”.
“We have the support of the community and former Nadi residents in overseas, who love the idea for the much-awaited development.
“I must acknowledge the unerring contributions of Ben Kush, of Canberra, Australia and others for their foresight towards our initiative”.
Bobby said Nadi has the real estate for the development and with proper consultations with stakeholders the facility will provide the perfect platform for your next sporting, meeting or conventions.
“I’ve had a fruitful meeting with the incoming Nadi Town Council administrator”, he said.
“It could either be, state, private or foreign funded.
“We need to work with the government, the sports council and every agency to determine the ownership.
“It will be great for a town keen on attracting more major sporting events without the need to travel outside”.
Bobby said the district that is known for producing great athletes, rugby, football, tennis, golf, snooker, wrestling, boxing and swimming deserves a fitting decor in their backyard.
“We must all soak up the idea of a new state of the art convention center and sporting facilities in Nadi”.
