A FORMER national football rep is calling on the Ex- Fiji Football Reps Association to help the former players facing difficulties amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Naresh Kumar said that (EFFRA) was formed to protect, provide, and assist its membership, who are ex- Fiji reps, and the calling is at a time of crisis.
“The association was formed to protect, provide and assist the ex- reps, and with the Covid -19 pandemic, some ageing reps are finding it difficult to make ends meet”, said Naresh, who represented the national team between 89-93.
“It is time for the association to step up ”.
Naresh said EFFRA continues to grow by membership and with some of the leading businessmen as patrons and trustees on the board, help should not be farfetched.
“The association has businessmen on the board and ex-players don’t have to look too far for help in these difficult times”.
“Food vouchers, food packs or whatever little that would alleviate the hardship.“ EFFRA is one strong body with huge membership in the country and overseas”.
The former national rep, who is not yet a member of the association, says some of the working ex-players have curtailed work hours, lay-offs, and closures because of the outbreak of coronavirus and the lockdown.
“I run into some of the ex-reps, who have a story to go with their hardships”.
Naresh said the struggle is real, he encourages EFFRA to list the needy for help.
Naresh played district football for Lautoka between 89-99.
