The Ba and national football legend was scoring goals seemingly at will and that earned him the ‘golden header’ status.

He set incredible record by winning the 76-80, 82 and 86 Inter District Championship and that he can boast of.

And won the 79,81, and 84 Battle of the Giants, the 77, 79 and 86 National Football League titles, making him the country’s most successful footballer.

But as much as Inia was known for his scoring exploits, he had a greater admiration for footballers he rubbed shoulders with and against during his career.

In a Sportsone, exclusive the impassioned footballer named his best and yet toughest opponents he faced, adding, ‘I was up and against’ world class athletes.

He said the 70s-80s produced an array of footballers who were skilled, competitive and rivalries was endless.

“We played the sport out of love and respect to the district and its fans,” Inia said. “And all for free.”

“I was a fan of the sport first, a footballer and admired the quality footballers.”

Defenders

While Inia skirted past defenders during his illustrious 12 year career, Lautoka’s Upendren Choy and Nadi’s Inosi Tora were the toughest he faced.

“Choy and Inosi, they don’t come any better then that, tough, strong and you think you’re good, they were better, intimidating, solid and fearsome”.

Goalkeeper

Nadi’s Savenaca Waqa and Bale Raniga, are the country’s best.

“Save and Bale are the legends, best the country ever produced”.

Midfielder

The two players that transcended the midfield play, Inia said, were Josaia Tubuna and Emosi Koroi Bacardi, rated for their creativity, commanding play and leadership.

Strikers

What Inia did it with headers, Nadi’s Rusiate Waqan and Suva’s Jone Ratu were the quick feet, the two were ‘synonymous for scoring goals’.
