The get together will give the onetime Lautoka’s premier club footballers’ to cast their minds back to the good old football days.

John is considered one of the country’s greatest footballers of all time, and for Lautokan’s, he was ‘poetry in motion’ with skills, the vision and he was a sublime performer.

Club founders

Suren Rama, Anil Prasad and Dinesh Prasad (Munda) were the founders of the club in the mid 70s, and made defunct in the early 90s, following the exodus of players overseas and to retirement.

Rama was the club’s first president in the formative years’ and Hazrat Ali was the coach.

Big turnout expected

Epeli Ragavatu Kosa, who represented the club, Lautoka and Fiji is anticipating a good turnout during the reunion.

“We have been planning our reunion for sometime and we found it opportune as most of our overseas players and friends would be in Fiji attending former player Sam Lal’s son’s wedding reception,” Kosa said.

“It would be a great occasion for ex-players to be a part of Sam’s son’s nuptials, John’s birthday and the club’s reunion.

“It’s a massive honour for us to be part of the treble celebrations.”

Kosa said they’re working with their network of former players and friends overseas and Fiji to join the Leeds United’s July, 13th-14th, reunion in Lautoka.

"A little nostalgic get together of our good times, it’s about moments, good old times,” Kosa said.
