Fiji falls to Australia in Cardiff Fiji falls to Australia in Cardiff Fiji has gone down battling Australia 28 – 13 in their second Rugby World Cup Game.

 

In the first half, Australia led 18 – 3 with tries to two tries to ‘Man of the Match’ David Pocock and Sekope Kepu.

 

The second half was a much better game from Fiji, a no-die attitude with fly half Ben Volavola scoring a try and a conversion from Nemani Nadolo getting the Flying Fijians fired up. Nadolo added two more penalties.

 

Winger, Waisea Nayacalevu was forced off the field from a twisted knee in the opening minute of the game.

 

Fiji was reduced to a 14 men in the 30th minute after prop, Campese Ma’afu was yellow carded for an infringement in the ruck.

 

Because of this result, Fiji has no chance of reaching the quarterfinals, but the side can hold its head high after outplaying the Wallabies in the second half.

 

Looking at the standings in Pool A, England and Wales still leads with 5 points, followed by Australia with 4 points while Fiji and Uruguay have yet to register a point.

 

Fiji will next take on Wales on Friday week at the same venue in Cardiff.

 

Earlier today, Scotland beat Japan 45-10.
