WHILE Fijians herald in the New Year with much joy and celebrations, a Fiji sevens star revelled in a rather old Fijian way.
World Rugby 7s Player of 2019 Jerry Tuwai joined a group of children outside his home in Newtown, Nasinu playing tin music.
With sticks, Tuwai and the youngsters created musical effect (sound) while pounding on the tin pad and the euphoria of it drew an insurmountable praise after the video was posted on social media Facebook.
Fijians from around the globe praised the rugger of being humble and a Fijian at heart.
Josefa Naisua said Tuwai displayed true love and adulation to the area children.
“Just Fijian. Tuwai celebrated the New Year in the old fashion way”, he said.
Shafeem Buksh writes, what Jerry did is absolute Fijian.
“Tuwai is simply awesome, good heart”.
“The video just goes to show that no matter how big, or star one is, it is all about love and respect and being true to his upbringing.
“What better love than to bring the smiles on the faces of children”.
Jason Singh said Tuwai brought back memories of how ‘we celebrated new year in Fiji’ and it’s nice of him to remain deep rooted.

Tuwai is known for dedicating victories to children and it couldn’t have been fitting to indulge the New Year’s celebrations with a group of youngsters from around the very neighborhood he played touch rugby and rose to stardom.
He has made special mention about children after Fiji’s many tournament wins in the past.
Tuwai took social media, to wish his family, friends and followers a happy New Year.
