Fiji lost 1-0 in a see-saw of the match that drew lot of praise on performance by a partisan crowd.

“We were the better team. We had good body language. We were good in the one-on-one, it was unfortunate that we conceded the goal.

“The side did everything I told them. We had a lot of courage. There’s nothing to blame them for", he said.

Evans said he rues the missed opportunity during the contentious semi-final match against the 2015 Nations Cup champions.

“We had our chances. Regretfully we didn’t score. We didn’t have the luck we needed.”

The second year coach said he is delight for his players who gave their all against “the best side” and former Nations Cup winners.

“I’m delighted for the players. It was a tough game against a team that has won a few grand championships".

Evans said Fiji needs to retain the team for next few tournaments as they have the skills and the determination to win its first ever championship.

Fiji beat England 2-1in its opening game on Friday and obliterated USA 4-0 and drew against Canada 0-0 in the lead up to the semi-final fixture against India.
