The suspended Fijian Soccer League of Greater Vancouver player draped for India Masters 38 team that beat Canada 2-1 in the final.

And it's exactly the very tournament in 2014 that Reddy was intentionally hit during a pool match while playing for team Fiji.

The ‘bull of a defense-man' was hospitalized with multiple fractures to his eye socket and cheek bone, an 8 hour reconstructive surgery was needed to fix his face.

In a strange turn of events following the Nations Cup, the FSLGV arbitrarily suspended Reddy, who decided to seek legal advice for compensation.

"You would think the FSLGV would have your back", said Reddy. "Instead I was suspended from all levels of the game".

Reddy said the seriousness of the injury has permanently changed his life and at one point he had decided against playing soccer, a sport he loved since childhood.

"I had nightmares", Reddy recalled. "It took a lot of convincing to return to soccer. And when I did decide to return I was told by the FSLGV that since I had initiated a legal action, they've been told by their lawyer not to allow me to play in the league".

"I found this very strange as FSLGV is not the only body mentioned in the lawsuit; Fraser Valley Soccer, BC Soccer and the Nations Cup have all been served.

"It's about insurance cover more than anything else".

Reddy said he's thankful to Nations Cup for allowing him to play the sport he so loves.

"If anybody, you would think the Nations Cup would refuse my participation out of fear of pending legal case but they gave me a green light to play for India".

Reddy said he is forever indebted to his adopted team for having faith in him and the fact that they gave him that respect to represent.

"Ones' trash is anothers' treasure", quipped Reddy.
