Rewa Sanatan.Rewa Sanatan.Vancouver Sanatan 40s team suffered a 2-0 loss to New Zealand Rewa in the 7th Sanatan World Cup final at Bill McKinley Park in New Zealand yesterday.

The side conceded two first half goals.

With a few named guest players, like the former quadruple district, Nadroga, Labasa,Nadi and Lautoka representative Ramendra Dutt and Lautok’s Navin Kumar, the Vancouver Sanatan put on a brave performance in the second but were held on by a determined NZ Rewa who claimed $3000 prize-money.

Sonu Fox, Sportsone's New Zealand based reporter says the final match kicked off on a slow pace in the first quarter of the match as players from both the teams got the feel of the opponents but as the game progressed, the momentum shifted.

"The former Fiji stars appeared slow but they displayed the flashes of brilliance one that made them names during their pinnacle", said Fox.

Fox said NZ Rewa had a young 40s team compared to Vancouver Sanatan 40s and this was evidently clear during the match.

"Vancouver Sanatan 40s' Mun Reddy and Kartik Kumar were strong in defense. The two provided cover for goalkeeper Vinny Sharma, who made some spectacular saves in the game.

"NZ Rewa's former Suva rep, Salen Lal was the catalyst of the winning team. He was ably backed up by a younger 40s player's throughout the match".

Fox said Canada Sanatan 40s has had their chances to pull back the two goal deficit but missed opportunities were the biggest drawback.

Canada Sanatan settled for $1000 prize money.
