Former Fiji Saints coach, Anman SanjuFormer Fiji Saints coach, Anman SanjuTHE Fiji Saints soccer club coach is happy his former footballer chose to play for his roots.

Anman Sanju says Nicholas Prasad was a delight to have for the three years (2011-2013) he was with the club.

“Nico (Nicholas) was only 16 years old when he broke into premier football. He was an amazing talent”, he said.

“A dedicated athlete and a passionate footballer who had already set his mind on bigger appearances”.

Anman said he is ecstatic about Nicholas's decision to represent Fiji national football team.

“I’m happy for him and his parents, who are from Fiji.

“They’re just as happy to see Nicholas represent Fiji and make the family proud”.

Anman says it is sad that a player like Nicholas didn’t make the Vancouver Whitecaps team.

“I guess it worked out well for him as he secured a scholarship in Seattle and later moved to Germany, playing for SpVgg Bayreuth”.

Nicholas was a marquee player on coach Christophe Gamel’s ‘Bula Boys’ team that won the Tri-Nations International Friendly, that included New Caledonia and Mauritius.

Fiji beat New Caledonia 3-0 in its opening game and wrote a piece of history on a Roy Krishna’s single hit that beat Mauritius, for the first even win against an African national team.

“Nicholas played really well given he was with the team for a short period. He will only get better”, said Amman, added the two still keep in contact after these many years.
