Capitans of the participating Cape Towns Sevens teamsCapitans of the participating Cape Towns Sevens teamsTHERE'S a renewed sense of confidence among the Fiji Airways men’s 7s fervent ahead of the Cape Town Sevens.

Albeit the dismal performance during the Dubai Sevens, the feeling is the team would redeem itself at the Cape Town Sevens that gets underway tomorrow.

“As the defending Cape Town Sevens champions, the team has their work cut out for them after playing their worst rugby”, said Richmond’s Patrick Samuel.

“A lot has been said about how bad the reigning World Rugby Sevens Series champions played but it’s now the next leg, one that will bring the best out in the players”.

Fiji missed out on the Cup quarterfinals for the first time in the 21-year history of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Anil Jagram is also optimistic about the team giving their all.

He said the Dubai Sevens was a gone show, the team needs to bring its A-plus game.

“Cape Town Sevens is where things turned around last year. If it doesn’t happen then Fiji will have to re-evaluate its game plan as the competition will only intensify”.

Fiji is pooled with Dubai Sevens winners, South Africa, USA and Japan.
