Tribute pours in for late president Harry Gopal: FBTribute pours in for late president Harry Gopal: FBFIJIAN Soccer League of Greater Vancouver players and fans took to Facebook to pay their respects to former president Harry Gopal who died on Wednesday.

Harry was in failing health at the Morgan Creek Care home.

He was 71.

Veteran footballer Subarmani Reddy led the tributes for Harry.

He said the former president held the league together during his tenure with the Fijian League.

“Good man called to eternal rest, Harry was the league”, said Reddy.

“The league was not the same after he left. Leaders like him don’t come that often. RIP”.

Ajay Partap said while he was saddened with the news, he reminded himself that death is ineluctable.

“We find it hard to let go of the dear and near, it’s a journey, under Harry’s leadership we enjoyed a full slate of premier football”.

Harry was a loyal servant of the FSLGV, said Ronald Singh.

The former Western Stars standout of the Fiji Football Association remembered Harry from the Tanoa FC days as an ardent fan.

“Harry was a huge support of Tanoa FC, who later took up official position with the club. RIP”.

Ayzaaz Ali said Harry was proud about his roots that during the Inter district championship he spotted in the Nasinu district jersey and cared less what district officials, fans and players felt about it.

“You would think as president he would be neutral but with Harry it was all about district loyalty more than anything else”, said the Lautoka fan.

“Harry will be remembered, condolence to family, my prayers be with you”.

Zain Ali, a former Nadi striker sent his deepest condolences to the family.

“Harry's contributions to local Fijian Soccer will not be forgotten. Thank you, Harry. RIP”.
