Canada Legends win FANCA Gold in Fiji: FBCanada Legends win FANCA Gold in Fiji: FBABDUL Aziz Rahiman (Daddu) hasn’t scored that many goals playing as a defender in football.


But the few he has mattered the most for his team.

And on Sunday, the Canada Legends defender tuned hero when he scored the final penalty kick in their 4-3 shootout win against Australia in the FANCA Silver Jubilee Five Nations Muslim World Cup grand finale match.

Aziz was a member of Canada premier team during the inaugural FANCA tournament in Vancouver 1997, he scored the first goal of the tournament, the lone goal also handed a star-studded Fiji a 1-0 defeat.

Fiji went on to win the championship 2-1 in the redemption final against Canada.

And 25 years on, the euphoria of the game winning goal had Aziz go shirtless and draped in the Canadian flag, and with emotion running at fever pitch he dedicated the win to his family and teammates.

“I’d like to thank (Allah) God for giving us the strength in the final and playing as a team to win the Legends tournament”.

“I dedicate the win to my family, to my teammates and all Canadians.

“It’s all about believing in the team”.

Canada Legends and Australian were scoreless up to the extra time.

The team’s resorted to penalty kicks to determine the winner.

Imdad Ali, the Canadian goalkeeper made a spectacular save on Australian, Mohammed Ilyas before Aziz scored the game winner.


Mohammed Faizal, Fareed Khan and Mohammed Alamin also scored for Canada.

Alamin was named the player of the game, he also won the division's top goal scorer award.
