EX Fiji Football Reps Association will endorse a women's chapter in the Annual General Meeting at the end of month.
The women’s chapter will include the wives and mothers of the deceased footballers.
The idea stemmed following discussions with members who felt the need to include the auxiliary chapter.
“We need to recognize the enormous contributions of wives and mothers who supported their husbands and sons during their careers,” said former Fijian national team footballer, Sylvester Joseph.
“These ladies provided all the support during our playing days, it is said behind every successful man is a woman.
“There needs to be a balance when it comes to their roles, we will put forward a motion to include them.”
Joseph said EFFRA was formed for the interests of former Fiji football reps, added, it’s pertinent that the wives and mothers aren’t made to feel left out.
He said over the years many great footballers have passed away and the grief is still being felt by their loved ones.
“Wives and mothers need some sort of support, we must step up,” Joseph said.
“We say, we are with you.”
Joseph said once EFFRA adopts the endorsement, the next step would be to identify the footballers' wives, mothers’ and spouses so they could be involved with the group.
“It’s work in progress.
“It is all about inclusiveness.”
The AGM will be held on the 27th of April,2024 at the Farmers Club in Nadi.
