YOUNG Australian footballer Mustafa Mohammed has joined the Ba football team on the heels of the 85th Inter District Championship in Lautoka.
The 19-year old played for TFA of the United Arab Emirates Professional League before joining Wynnum Wolves in the National Premier League in Queensland, Australia.
Sportsone has learned that Mustafa was approached through a Ba Football Association’s Brisbane, Australia contact this past month, agreeing to terms to represent the district for the Inter District Championship.
With the inclusion the Man in Black have strengthened the squad with a quality midfielder, who has received high praises at TFA Dubai and Wynnan Wolves.
The Brisbane youngster was a member of the Fijian international U-20 team but had a fall out with coach Ronil Lal ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Mustafa withdrew from the team that suffered heavy defeats in their second ever appearance at a FIFA U-20 World Cup with a 9-0 loss to Ecuador, 4-0 defeat by Slovakia and a 3-0 loss to the USA.
Mustafa is looking forward to the tournament at Lautoka’s Churchill Park with a lot of optimism.
Mustafa’s father is from Mulo Mulo, Nadi and a staunch supporter of the district team.
Ba are the defending champions and are drawn in Pool A with Digicel Premier League champions Rewa, Nadi and Nadroga.
Lautoka, Suva, Labasa and Navua make up Pool B.
