HE was Fiji Airways Men’s 7s super-fan in the highest sense of the word and was looking forward to the 2018-2019 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
But kismet is such that on the eve of the Dubai 7s, the first of the ten-leg series, he was called to eternal rest.
Mohammed Khan, 70, of Surrey passed away Thursday morning in his sleep.
"Khan had a special love for Fiji 7s", said Irshaad Mohammed, a good friend of the late Khan.
He said Khan was a true sevens patriot.
"He didn’t miss an HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Vancouver Sevens in the 3 year’s running. He would be the first one to psyche everyone up for the Vancouver 7s".
"Fiji 7s has lost a royal fan. He would be sadly missed", said Irshaad.
Fiji 7s lost Cup quarterfinal 24-19 to USA and sits on fifth spot with 13 points after a 24-19 win over South Africa in the fifth place final.
