IT is said laughter is the best medicine.


And it has been scientifically proven that nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body into balance than a good laugh.

All team sports have a player who is comical.

One who cracks up jokes, imitates and is vivacious in nature.

Fijian men’s 7s Olympic gold medalist, Napolioni Bolaca fits the profile, the perennial favorite on social media Facebook.

Bolaca hits a try line joke every time, and he’s hilarious.

There's no debating that. The only question is, are we laughing with him or at him? I honestly have no idea sometimes.

In the end, it doesn't really matter because he's basically become a human quote machine.

Bolaca is the poster child of the Olympic gold sevens team when it comes to unintentional comedy.

After winning the gold, Bolaca led the team to a dance drill in the locker room to a tune that kicked off an ecstasy of celebrations.

And during which time he called out Dr James Fong, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Health and Medical Services to waive players the mandatory 14-day quarantine upon return to the country.

“Dr. Fong no quarantine, we wish you happy birthday”.

And then it’s “If you’re tired, don’t tired”, has become his runaway line.

The famous line, though, was first uttered by sevens legend Waisale Serevi, as claimed by captain Jerry Tuwai during his Zoom, exclusive on FRU livestream.

“Serevi during our run at sand dunes told us if you ever get tired, don’t tired”. “You have only a few minutes, you can be a villain or a hero to the country”.

Bolaca picked up the quote and used it to drive home the message of never to give up.

And did the players ever, the team remained steadfast, sacrificed 5 months in the camp away from their families in the quest to win the Olympic gold.

Bolaca is the guy who definitely kept the players enthralled.

He’s undoubtedly every player's dream teammate, but in a blink, he is sure to make fun of him, and with all the clips circulating on social media, the players seem to get a kick out of his jokes, and laughter after all is a therapy.

It draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes of the mind and body.

And for Bolaca, the majority of his humor comes from his poor use of the English language and or catching i-taukei phrases, funny? He laughs at himself more than anyone else, and that’s part of his charm.
