USA Sangam looks to the future, ready for debut tournament 

THE USA Sangam Masters football team is looking to the future with a lot of optimism.

Besides participating in the Sangam tournament for the first time, their mission extends beyond the football field.

USASM, has set goals says team vice captain Shy Goundar.

“We aim to set an example for the younger generation and keep the Sangam pride alive in the USA.”

“This journey isn’t just about soccer, it’s about fostering values of discipline, dedication, and community service.

“We want to inspire the next generation and emphasize the importance of giving back, supporting those less fortunate, and strengthening the Sangam spirit.”

Community outreach 

With a strong belief in giving back, the executive body has planned a series of initiatives in Fiji, aiming to inspire the next generation, strengthen relationships within the community, and leave a lasting impact beyond the competition.

“Through mentorship programs, youth engagement, and cultural exchanges, the team seeks to use football as a platform for unity, growth, and meaningful change,” Goundar said.

Preparations underway, coach Kumar upbeat 

USA Sangam Masters has been training under head coach Naveen Kumar, a former Fiji international footballer.

“We have upped the tempo of our training , amazing group of footballers, good vibes emanating,” said Kumar.

“USA Sangam is all about the team, together everyone achieves more for a common goal.”

And since it’s the USA Masters’ debut tournament, Kumar said the excitement level is at a fever pitch.

“It’s our debut tournament, obviously there lot of excitement, and with it comes wrinkles, we just need to learn to iron it out,” Kumar said.

“I’m happy to see the bonding, balance and tranquillity.”

The 99th Annual Sangam Convention will be held during the Easter Weekend in Ba, Fiji.
