TRINA and Tyanna Davis created history by becoming the first American Fijian women to play in the men’s competition during the USA Sangan Convention in Seattle, Washington.
The sisters’ dominance awed fans as they ushered in a new era of men’s football forever.
The duo combined well to help Sacramento come from behind to level the score 1-1 against Lions Gate.
The USA Sangam in a landmark decision earlier this month changed the eligibility rules for the inclusion of women players in men’s competition.
USA Sangam head coach Naveen Kumar was ecstatic about the Davis sisters’ passion and grit to play on a men’s team.
Kumar said the sisters have opened up opportunities for more women to share the field with men at any given time.
“It’s history in the making,” said Kumar.
“We the USA Sangam are proud of our initiative, it is about inclusiveness.
“The sisters felt welcome by their male counterparts, respect was the key.”
Trina has been in great shape as she is looking forward to joining the Fiji Women’s National team for the July 4-19 OFC Women’s Nations Cup in Suva.
Kumar said Trina made men’s players look ordinary with her speed and skills, adding Tyanna is also a good player.
“Sisters are skillful and have amazing eye-ball coordination,” said Kumar.
The USA Sangam Convention tournament continues tomorrow in Seattle.
