“BRING your best, or face the likelihood of getting beaten at your own game.”
That is the warning from former Ba and Fiji international Meli Vuilabasa as the Battle of the Giants kicks off tomorrow at the 4R Stadium in Ba.
Fiji’s top eight teams will battle for the prestigious BOG title, but Vuilabasa believes Ba’s current form means their opponents will have little room for error.
“With the tournament getting underway in Ba, the pressure will be on the eight competing districts to deliver from the opening whistle,” said Vuilabasa.
The star of Ba’s 1980s golden era team said that with the Men in Black enjoying a strong run of form, teams facing Ba must be prepared to raise their game or risk paying the price.
“Ba is in good form, so the teams playing against them need to bring their best,” Vuilabasa said.
“If they don’t, they could find themselves being beaten at their own game.”
The former international knows exactly what it takes to play in a tournament of this magnitude and believes the BOG provides the perfect stage for teams to test themselves against the best in the country.
The Men in Black enter the tournament on a high, having already lifted both the Extra Premier League and Fiji FACT titles this season.
Ba will face Nadi in the feature match of day one at 7:30 pm, the two sides have met twice in the home and away league matches that ended in a stalemate.
