THE 2025 Inter-District Championship (IDC) reaches its grand climax today as traditional powerhouses Ba and Rewa collide in a much-anticipated final to decide Fiji’s football champions.
For decades, the IDC has stood as the crown jewel of Fijian football, a tournament commanding unmatched prestige among players and fans alike.
As the curtain falls on this year’s spectacle, neither Ba nor Rewa can afford to rest on their laurels.
Both must dig deep and summon their finest football to lay rightful claim to the championship silverware.
Ba, the most decorated side in IDC history, are on a mission to rekindle their glory days, chasing a record 26th title.
Their last triumph came in 2022, when they edged Lautoka 2-1 in a dramatic final at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Rewa, meanwhile, are in pursuit of a long-overdue crown. Their last IDC victory dates back to 2010, also in Suva, when they overpowered Lautoka 3-1.
With Ba’s Govind Park (now 4R Stadium) hosting the showdown after 15 long years, Rewa will need to bring their absolute best into what’s considered enemy territory.
Ba’s famed “school of coaches” will patrol the technical area, while a sea of black-clad supporters turns the stands into a cauldron of passion.
Across the pitch, Rewa’s coach-cum-player Tevita Waranaivalu and technical lead Priyant Manu will look to counter with tactical precision and belief.
Fate could hardly have scripted a more fitting finale, one brimming with competitive fire, other geographic balance, and star quality spread evenly across both camps.
