Rewa Celebrate Historic 2025 Football Season

HUNDREDS of Rewa fans turned out to celebrate the district’s triumphant 2025 football campaign, which saw the Delta Tigers capture both the Inter-District Championship (IDC) and the Premier League title.

The streets were awash with red as supporters and well-wishers joined a jubilant victory procession that wound its way to Ratu Cakobau Park, the proud home of Rewa football.

Fans waved flags, decorated vehicles, and even rode horses as they sang and danced in celebration of the team’s remarkable season.

The twin titles mark one of Rewa’s most successful years in recent history, reaffirming the district’s dominance in Fijian football.

In a lively rendition of the 2007 Bollywood hit song “Jag lal lal lal lal, lal lal dikhe he mujhko” — meaning “The whole world looks red to me”-players greeted officials, who showered them with praise and gifts.

The players and team officials shared the $25,000 prize money.

Rewa Football Association President Nazeel Buksh praised the team for its hard work, consistency, and connection with the community.

“To win the IDC and also go back-to-back in the Premier League is something truly special,” Buksh said.

“This is Rewa’s era — an era built on discipline, unity, and belief. Our players have worked tirelessly, our officials have given everything, and our fans have stood with us every step of the way.”

Buksh added that the celebrations were not just for football fans, but for the entire Rewa community.

Meanwhile, across the Pacific, Rewa supporters in Canada hosted their own celebration at Club 76 in Surrey, BC, turning the venue into a “party-like” atmosphere to honor the district’s double victory.

Among the attendees was former Rewa and Fiji footballer Mohammed Yusuf Mama, who expressed his delight at the district’s outstanding season.

The evening was filled with cheers, laughter, and stories of Rewa’s success, capped off by a traditional kava session, dubbed the “drink of champions,” and a hearty feast shared among proud supporters.
