FOOTBALLER Roy Krishna’s decision to join Bula FC is ultimately a story of home where the heart truly lies.
The accomplished star is set to bring his illustrious career full circle, choosing to finish where it all began.
“I’ve had an amazing journey playing abroad especially the last six years in India and the 10 years before that in New Zealand but there’s something truly special about coming back home,” Krishna said.
“It’s where my roots are, and I’m excited to give back to the place that gave me so much.”
While age may no longer be on his side, leadership and influence certainly are.
At 38, Krishna arrives as the elder statesman in an otherwise youthful Bula FC squad taking on the role of a brother’s keeper.
He brings with him professionalism, a winning mentality, and standards forged at the highest levels of the game.
Krishna spent 16 years in professional and semi-professional football abroad 10 years in New Zealand and six in India where he was embraced for his talent, humility, and connection to culture, forging lifelong relationships along the way.
Labasa and beyond
For Krishna, it all began in the small farming community of Siberia, on the outskirts of Labasa before he left his footprints in some of the finest stadiums across New Zealand and India.
From Waitakere United, Auckland City, and Wellington Phoenix, to Indian Super League giants ATK, Mohun Bagan, Bengaluru FC, and Odisha FC, Krishna has seen it all and rarely failed to impress.
“I know what it takes to succeed at the top level, and I want to bring that mentality to Bula FC,” he said.
“It’s about hard work, discipline, and always putting the team’s goals first.”
Those are precisely the qualities the club needs at this stage of its journey.
Inspiration over game time
In the modern game, Krishna’s inclusion should be viewed more as inspiration than a guaranteed match-winner.
The responsibility still rests with the younger players to step in, step up, and carry the team forward.
Krishna has nothing left to prove.
He has reached the summit and conquered it. His role now is to guide, inspire, and elevate those around him.
Future head coach
With his deep understanding of the game, a future transition into coaching appears a natural progression.
For now, he is home with families and living it.
And with that, Bula FC gains far more than just a striker, it gains a legacy in boots.
