CANADIAN Fijian U16 co-coach Neil Adrakar says the coaching and technical staff are pleased with the team’s overall performance at the Pacific Cup.
The Canadians wrapped up their debut campaign with two draws and two losses, results Adrakar believes do not fully reflect the growth the players achieved throughout the tournament.
He said the squad made the most of every match, describing the event as a valuable learning curve for the young side.
“We were the youngest team in the competition, playing against some of the best players from Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand,” Adrakar noted. “The boys showed great character, and this experience will only help them improve moving forward.”
Despite the hot conditions, the team remained committed and played with heart, representing Canada proudly in their first competitive outing together outside the country.
Adrakar said he couldn’t be more proud of the group.
“We certainly made a statement,” he said. “The players will only grow and improve, as they have a lot of football ahead of them.”
He added that the coaching team plans to continue working with the squad, and with new additions coming through the ranks, the youngsters will build confidence and become the future of Fijian football in Vancouver.
