DHARMAN Prasad is not a clergyman, a politician, nor a radio personality.
Yet, through his words, he commands more attention than all three.
An ordinary man by profession, Prasad provides live-streaming services for funerals across Fiji, enabling families and friends around the world to share in moments of farewell.
In those brief moments during services, his short, sage words of wisdom frequently resonate more deeply than speeches delivered by learned figures, politicians, or radio personalities.
Prasad’s messages are simple, heartfelt, and grounded in the realities of life and they are taken to heart.
Blessed with a strong radio voice, one could easily mistake him for a seasoned media professional.
But Prasad remains what he has always been: an ordinary man whose sincerity, presence, and words have made an extraordinary impact.
His popularity has surged over the past few years, and during a recent visit to Canada, he was inundated with invitations from Fijians so many that he could attend only a fraction of them.
“I have been blessed to meet so many people, families, and friends who have come to know me through my work,” Prasad said. “It is beyond belief, and I’m truly grateful for the love and respect shown to me in both Edmonton and Vancouver.”
He said respect is paramount and is earned through humility, adding that he is not special but that his ability to translate life’s lessons is what people find meaningful.
“The people I came into contact with, or whose paths I crossed, were very welcoming, warm, and humble,” he said.
“I was invited to cultural events, funerals, and other gatherings, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I have such a large following.”
“I’m no bigger or more popular than anyone else. I only offer a few minutes of motivation, straight from the heart and I’m grateful that it is appreciated.”
And that, perhaps, is the essence of Prasad’s quiet influence.
In an age dominated by loud opinions, curated personas, and fleeting attention, Prasad’s appeal lies in his authenticity.
He does not seek an audience, yet one gathers.
He does not claim authority, yet his words carry weight.
Standing beside grieving families, he speaks not to impress, but to comfort and in doing so, leaves a lasting imprint.
His work has reminded many that wisdom does not always come from titles, platforms, or positions of power.
Sometimes, it comes from lived experience, spoken plainly, at the exact moment it is needed most.
For countless Fijians at home and abroad, Prasad has become a familiar and reassuring presence during life’s most difficult moments not because he set out to be, but because he stayed true to himself.
And in that sincerity, an ordinary man continues to make an extraordinary difference.
